A simple eye warmup for athletes

Gino is made to help you focus, move, and rest. It isn't medical advice. See health and safety.

Athletes warm up their muscles before playing. Some also warm up their eyes with simple tracking drills, a common part of sports vision training. This routine takes about two and a half minutes and needs no equipment.

The four drills

  1. Smooth tracking: follow a moving target side to side, up and down, then in a figure-8, moving only your eyes. Think of following a ball in flight.
  2. Quick jumps: snap your eyes from one point to another as fast and accurately as you can, like scanning the field for an open teammate.
  3. Near and far: shift focus as a target seems to move closer and farther away, like switching from a defender to the goal.
  4. Peripheral awareness: keep your eyes on a center point and notice targets appearing at the edges of your vision.

Do it with a guide

In Gino's Game day room, tap "Start eye warmup." The drills sync to the beat, speed follows the energy slider, and a slower-motion option suits younger players.
